Reed DavisReed Davis, Founder

Reed is a Nutritional Therapist and Founder of the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) Certification Course. He developed the D. R. E. S. S. for Health Success® program to consolidate the potent, proven, professional protocols that he developed over a 12 year period in collaboration with other leaders in the field. Reed is known as one of the most successful and experienced clinicians in the world today, having provided functional lab assessments to over 11,000 people for hormone levels as well as adrenal, digestion, detoxification, mucosal barrier, pathogenic, bone density and diet related health problems. He served as the Health Director and Case Manager at The Better Health & Wellness Center in Poway, California for over eight years before launching the FDN Certification Course. Reed lives in Southern California teaching the FDN Certification Course and helping his trainees to build robust, private-pay practices by integrating functional lab work. He is also on the Clinical Advisor staff at BioHealth Laboratory, Inc. where he helps lab clients interpret lab test results and develop natural protocols to restore function instead of just treating the symptoms.

Reed is dedicated to helping people restore health and developed Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN), a phrase he coined to describe the investigation of underlying causes and conditions at the root of today’s most common health complaints. FDN is an emerging field and growing body of work that bridges the gap between Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine. Reed developed FDN so that it can be used by both licensed and lay-practitioners alike. He is Certified in Nutritional Therapy by the International Foundation for Nutrition and Health. Reed is a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer (IFPA) and Certified Advanced Metabolic Typing Advisor (CMTA). He uses only science-based methods to help clients restore and rebuild health. Reed is registered with the A.C.E.P. as an EFT Practitioner and supports several other health related organizations.

Reed has appeared on popular radio shows including Underground Wellness, Blog-talk Radio, Hay House, KCBQ’s “Total Health Line-up” and “The Forever Young Show” as an expert on balancing hormones naturally, bone density problems, digestion & detoxification, immune system health and the Metabolic Typing® diet. You’ll find Reed is passionate about health & wellness and a great coach for anyone seeking better health and fitness. Reed delivers a variety of presentations, screening services and lab testing to many organizations, including St. Jude’s Hospital in Fullerton, CA and the United States Marine Corp in San Diego, CA.

Reed is considered the “Columbo” of health. Like the wily and venerable detective, Reed seeks clues that reveal the underlying causes of his clients’ health complaints instead of just treating symptoms. By combining the latest technology and scientific methods with a holistic mentality, Reed and his fellow FDNs help people overcome common health complaints and even serious conditions. While FDNs do not diagnose or treat disease, helping people identify and correct malfunctions can lead to vibrant health and vitality, even though that person may have been previously diagnosed with a medical condition.

You should always consult with your personal physician before starting any therapeutic protocol including vigorous exercise, changes in diet and nutritional supplementation.

Justine Altman, Vice President of Delivery

As a young child, Justine was experiencing health issues including  back pain, upset stomach and fatigue. By middle school she knew her health was not the same as her peers when simply walking home from school would cause extreme fatigue and pain.

Despite years of seeing numerous MD specialists and taking so many medications, her health continued to decline year after year. Finally at age 30, a wellness expert entered Justine’s life…and everything changed! But despite so many positive changes in Justine’s health, some persistent health issues continued to linger on. This is where functional lab testing came into play.  Digging deeper was the only way to get to the source of her symptoms.

This experience left Justine with a burning desire to guide others through this process so that they can achieve optimum vitality with the shortest and most comfortable journey possible. She is thrilled to have found FDN and to have the opportunity to be a part of the FDN staff team as the administrator for the FDN Medical Director Program.

Before joining the FDN family, Justine spent several years managing academic degree programs at a large research university. She specializes in administrative management, project coordination and data tracking.

Ann Melin, FDN Head Mentor

Ann’s passion for natural and holistic health began over 25 years ago when, as a teenager, she bought her first book on the healing properties of plants, attended her first yoga class, and participated in a series of mindfulness meditation classes.

Several years later she suffered through several health challenges of her own. Those struggles deepened her interest in restoring health by using natural healing modalities.

Through her own healing process she touched into a core value of wanting to share this work with others by supporting and guiding people through their own health struggles.

Ann has spent over a decade learning how to achieve health and wellness using natural, non-toxic, and holistic approaches. In addition to being a certified FDN Practitioner, Ann is certified as a Clinical Nutritionist, Clinical Master Herbalist, and Holistic Health Practitioner. She has also received certifications as a yoga teacher, a Thai therapeutic Bodyworker, and as a Reiki practitioner.
